Physical Properties and Changes

  • Chemistry Worksheets

  • States of matter

    • changes of states

  • Sculpture video

  • Density of Liquids - Lab

  • Test Tube Detective - Lab

Why is important to the environment and ourselves that matter changes states?

LG: You will be able to determine how a specific property (density) allows you to distinguish one substance from another.

Determine the density of liquids comparing D= M/V and observation using lab results.

LG: Can one identify a substance by its physical and chemical properties.

Students are given 6 white powers and 3 solutions to add to each one, recording their observations on a data table. Using this table, students will identify the names of the unknown substances using their properties.

Mixtures

  • homogeneous

    • colloids

  • heterogeneous

    • suspensions

  • Investigate Separating Mixtures

  • Ink Separates

Q: How can a mixture of sand, salt, pepper and iron filings be separated?

Q: Mixtures and not always visible.
