The Adams-Friendship Area School District was recently awarded two grants from the Wisconsin Education Environment Board (WEEB) to develop plans for using their school forests. Peggy Werner and Sheri Ebert saw the need for environmental education and wrote and received a $5000 and a $1000 grant from WEEB. A School Forest Committee (SFC) was established to develop an Environmental Education (EE) Plan. The EE Plan which was completed by SFC members Sheri Ebert, Peggy Werner, Michelle Johnson and Linda Stage was adopted by the Adams - Friendship School Board in April 2007. The second WEEB grant awarded $1000 to the Adams-Friendship School District for a on site school forest workshop for teachers willing to incorporate forestry in education into their curriculum. The workshop was held July 12, 2007. If you would like to be part of school forest education or for more information, contact Steve LaVallee, school superintendent, or Sheri Ebert, committee leader.
